Transformation, Competency, and Competitiveness in Industry: From Twin Transformation to Nuclear Supply Chain Panel Held
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duhan Kalkan, Secretary General of Ankara Development Agency, attended the panel titled "Transformation, Competency, and Competitiveness in Industry: From Twin Transformation to Nuclear Supply Chain" organized by the Ankara Chamber of Industry.
The panel addressed evaluations regarding the transformation of Turkish industry, the development of competencies, and the enhancement of global competitiveness. It also discussed the results and achievements of the "Increasing Twin Transformation Capacity of Industry Through Domestic Technology Utilization" project, carried out by the Ankara Chamber of Industry with the support of our Agency.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duhan Kalkan, Secretary General of Ankara Development Agency, began his speech by emphasizing the importance and power of change. He stated that while industrial change has been on the agenda for a long time, the real point of focus should be the accelerating pace of this change. Kalkan pointed out that industrial revolutions began with mechanization and extended to mass production, digitalization, and smart factories, noting that technological transformation has rapidly accelerated in recent years.
"Ankara is the locomotive of the defense industry"
The Secretary General stated that Ankara holds a significant position in high value-added production, technology, and innovation in the face of rapid technological developments. Expressing that Ankara is the locomotive city of the defense industry, Kalkan shared that more than 80 percent of the working population operates in the private sector and production economy. He added that the city's share in the national economy has increased from 8.9 percent to 10.5 percent over the last three years. Kalkan also noted that Ankara stands out with its 15 organized industrial zones and 14 technology development centers.
Seyit Ardıç, President of the Ankara Chamber of Industry, stated in his speech that they worked directly with 10 Ankara Chamber of Industry members within the scope of the twin transformation project, conducted with the technical support of the Ankara Development Agency. Ardıç explained that training and consultancy activities regarding carbon and water footprint as well as CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism) reporting were carried out using domestic software infrastructure. He emphasized that Ankara Chamber of Industry's priority is not only ensuring its members comply with regulations, but also enabling them to attain a structure that generates its own data, recognizes productivity losses, and measures its own transformation.
