Ankara Investment Climate Program was Held for ASEAN Country Embassies

In the meeting attended by the Ambassadors, Commercial Attachés, First Secretary and Diplomats of the Southeast Asian Union of Nations (ASEAN) countries (Brunei Darussalam, Republic of Indonesia, Republic of the Philippines, Kingdom of Cambodia, Malaysia, Republic of Singapore, Kingdom of Thailand, Socialist Republic of Vietnam) that have representative offices in Ankara, METU Ankara Investment Environment Program was organized with the cooperation of Teknokent and OSTİM OSB.

First, the delegation came together at METU Teknokent CoZone. Making the opening speeches, Ankara Development Agency General Secretary Dr. Cahit ÇELİK talked about the Ankara Development Agency's structure, functioning and important projects. In addition to informing about the financial and technical support provided by the agency, he also gave concrete information about the works carried out in line with the objectives of the development agencies. He concluded his speech by expressing his satisfaction with their participation in the delegation. Ankara Development Agency Investment Support Office Coordinator Erdem KOÇOĞLU introduced foreign investment incentives, Ankara's regional development policy, business and investment environment in his presentation.

Secondly, ODTÜ TEKNOKENT General Manager Serdar ALEMDAR introduced ODTÜ TEKNOKENT with the presentation they prepared, and conveyed the international collaborations and studies they have done. METU MicroElectroMechanical Systems (MEMS) Center was visited together with the Delegation and information was given about the advanced technology products they are working on. From BioMEMS R&D Group, Prof. Dr. Haluk Külah made presentations to the delegation about the works. In addition, 4 entrepreneurs in the seed stage selected to make presentations to the delegation presented their work, and the work at ODTU TEKNOKENT was completed.

Within the scope of the program, the delegation visited OSTİM OIZ Regional Directorate. An introductory video and information presentation about OSTİM OSB was made. OSTİM Chairman of the Board Orhan AYDIN noted that they aim to develop cooperation with Southeast Asian countries. Esma Akyüz, OSTİM Foreign Trade Coordinator, gave information about the OSTİM investment ecosystem.

ASEAN Turkey Term President Singapore Ambassador Jonathan Tow stated that they are open to international cooperation and that each ASEAN member country has its own potential.

After the meeting, Ambassadors underlined that it would be beneficial to make sectoral determinations by forming working groups. It was emphasized that cooperation and partnership efforts to highlight strong sectors in Ankara and increase exports will contribute to the development of mutual commercial relations.
