Rural Development Panel on the 100th Anniversary of the Republic
The Rural Development Panel on the 100th Anniversary of the Republic was held on 25 October 2023 at the Ankara Development Agency Conference Hall.
Representatives from public institutions, universities and non-governmental organizations participated in the panel where the developments in rural development in the past 100 years were evaluated on the 100th anniversary of the Republic and discussions on the plans that needed to be made were discussed.
The panel, which was opened by Ankara Development Agency Deputy Secretary General Emine Doğrukök and was moderated by Dr. Coskun SEREFOGLU, who is one of the Agency experts.
The speaker in the panel was retired faculty member from METU Department of Economics, Prof. Dr. Halis Akder, Prof. Dr. Bülent Gülçubuk from Ankara University, Department of Agricultural Economics., Prof. Dr. Hatice Ayşe Hoşgör from METU Department of Sociology, Specialist Türkan Öz from the Ministry of National Education and European Union Expert Dr. Gökhan Kurtar from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry took part.
Some important points were highlighted by speakers. These were land reform and its reflections, aging population in rural areas, optimum farm sizes in agricultural enterprises, and educational activities carried out for rural areas. Structural changes in agriculture and rural development policies during Turkey's EU harmonization process and studies on the adaptation of climate-friendly smart agriculture practices to the agricultural sector were also discussed. The panel was completed by answering questions coming from the participants.
