Sub-Regional Focus Group Meetings Completed

Within the scope of Ankara Regional Plan 2024-2028 preparation studies, focus group meetings were held in five sub-regions of Ankara's surrounding districts with the participation of representatives from public institutions, municipalities, chambers of commerce and industry and non-governmental organizations.

The meetings were held in Haymana for the I. Sub-Region, in Kalecik for the II. Sub-Region, Kızılcahamam for the III. Sub-Region, Beypazarı for IV. Sub-Region and in Polatlı for the V. Sub-region during 5-20 October 2022.

The workshops started with the introductory presentations which included general information about the sub-regions and importance of regional plans. Afterwards, the participants were grouped according to the districts in the relevant sub-region and they evaluated their districts on the themes of infrastructure, industrial development, employment, agriculture, alternative livelihoods, rural tourism and climate change impacts. Participants concluded the evaluation results by specifying the current problems and needs, potentials and solution/action suggestions for each theme. Project proposals were also prepared by selecting the most urgent and important solution proposals specific to the district in the workshops.

The sub-region focus group meetings held by the Agency's Rural Development Unit contributed significantly to the regional plan studies in terms of evaluating the current situation of the sub-region districts and the investment project topics and action proposals that will accelerate districts’ socio-economic development throughout the plan period.
